NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Kenner Fire Department came to the rescue of a mother duck and her ducklings Wednesday morning.

Officials say they received numerous calls from people worried about the ducks wandering around the Walmart parking lot located near the intersection of Loyola Drive and West Esplanade Avenue.

Firefighters arrived at the Walmart and carefully placed the mother duck and her 13 ducklings into two boxes. They were then transported and released into a lagoon at a nearby park on Loyola Dr.

The rescue attracted a crowd of on-lookers who applauded the firefighters for their heroic efforts.
