BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The LSU softball team (36-9, 13-5 SEC) is back on the road this weekend to take on No. 19/25 Arkansas (32-14, 6-9 SEC) Thursday through Saturday series.
Games one and two will stream live on SEC Network+ and the WatchESPN app. Saturday’s game will air live on ESPNU and the WatchESPN app with Jenn Hildreth and Jenny Dalton-Hill on the call.
No. 9/6 LSU is currently second place in the SEC. The Tigers will look for their seventh-straight SEC series win after defeating Kentucky in games two and three last weekend. The team is hitting .332 on the year, which leads the SEC. The Tigers are also leading the conference in slugging percentage (.568) and on-base percentage (.439). This year the Tigers have hit 61 home runs so far and are just five away from breaking the single-season record.
“Arkansas is really good. They have a great offense and two great pitchers that we will have to learn. We will have to prepare for another great SEC series. The SEC is so tough because it is a tough opponent every week,” head coach Beth Torina said.
LSU owns a 59-9 record after sweeping Arkansas last season at home in Tiger Park. The Tigers have swept the Razorbacks every year dating back to the 2014 season. Under head coach Beth Torina, LSU is 14-1 and have won every series since she became the head coach.
The Razorbacks are coming into the series 32-14 overall record and are currently in 10th place in the SEC. The Razorbacks are hitting .295 as a team and averaging 5.3 runs per game. They have hit 39 home runs as a team. Pitching, they have a 2.20 ERA with 10 shutouts and an opponent batting average of .221.
The Tigers will then return home for their final midweek game of the season, taking on ULM in Tiger Park on Tuesday, April 23 at 6 p.m. CT. They will then be back on the road next weekend, playing a three-game series against Baylor.
