BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - On Wednesday, East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome honored a local middle school for its role in recycling in the parish.

Southeast Middle School won a competition among other schools in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System to collect the most recyclable goods. Southeast collected more than 7,000 pounds of recyclable material in just four weeks.

In all, EBR schools collected 15,000 pounds of recyclables.
