BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Our community was shaken by the murders of five people this past weekend.
Dakota Theriot is accused of killing Summer Ernest, her brother, Tanner, and her father, Billy, at their home in Livingston Parish. Authorities allege that Theriot then drove to Gonzales, shooting and killing his two parents, Elizabeth and Keith Theriot.
Tragedy often unites a community and that has certainly been the case this week. Students at both Denham Springs High and Port Allen High organized “free dress days,” raising thousands of dollars to help offset funeral costs for the Ernest family.
Many of you reacted to the gesture on Facebook, including Evelyn Sing, who said:
And Port Allen High Principal James Jackson may have put it best by saying:
We couldn’t agree more. That’s Evelyn and James' turn. Now, it’s your turn.
