Hill, Crowd Noise could serve as "X-Factor’’ for Saints

New Orleans can take advantage of ‘Dome-field’ if they use their Swiss Army knife QB strategically as well as get some help from their die-hard fans in the NFC Championship

METAIRIE, LA (WLOX) - Opposing defenses know what to prepare for when it comes to the Saints: Get a hit on Drew Brees, stop the rushing tandem between Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram, don’t let Michael Thomas break free downfield. There is one guy the Rams cannot sleep on come Sunday and that’s the Saints “Swiss Army knife” they like to call Taysom Hill.

From quarterback to special teams, Hill’s do-it-all role has paid dividends for New Orleans, especially when they’ve needed it most. For example, his blocked punt against Tampa Bay or most recently his fourth down conversion off a fake punt against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Saints see Hill’s versatility coming in handy against the Los Angeles Rams.

“I think that just speaks to the type of player he is, " Alvin Kamara, Saints running back, told WLOX. For him to pick up different nuances at every position and then he plays special teams too. He does everything.”

“I’ve said this before, I believe that he’s going to be an outstanding NFL quarterback, " Saints head coach Sean Payton said. He’s one of those guys when he makes a play on offense, you can feel the bench react. He’s very unselfish and so that began with the things that he can do. He’s extremely athletic.”

Aside from “Hill Mania”, the Dome will be rocking Sunday and although Rams wide receiver, Robert Woods, says it won’t have an impact, ‘Who Dat Nation’ begs to differ.

“I mean I’ve been on the other side of the ball coming into this stadium and it’s nothing like it anywhere else in the NFL," Saints linebacker Demario Davis told WLOX. When we electrify our crowd and get them behind us, they’re going to struggle on that side of the ball regardless.”

Whether it’s Hill coming up in the clutch or the Black and Gold’s ’12th Man' disrupting LA’s rhythm, the Saints want to exceed expectations in their third-ever NFC Championship appearance so they can live up to their slogan of “Prove Them Right”.
