NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Coast Guard ended its search Thursday for two people who disappeared after their boat capsized near mile marker 18 on the Mississippi River near Bootheville.

The Coast Guard searched approximately 130 square nautical miles for 27 hours.

Missing are Katelyn Carlisle and Rueben Arellano. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report Wednesday at 10:40 a.m. of a capsized 32-foot vessel with Carlisle and Arellano on board.

“Suspending our search is never an easy decision to make,” said Cmdr. Michael Wolfe. “The Coast Guard, along with local and state responders, spared no efforts over the past day, but unfortunately we did not locate the missing individuals. Our prayers and condolences are with the families of the missing individuals.”

The employees worked for MSRC Virginia, an oil response company.
