False River reopens following concerns over high water levels


UPDATE - Jan. 7

The Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Office advises False River is now reopen following concerns about high water. The lake level is at 17.5 feet and one gate remains open, the sheriff’s office says.


The False River in Pointe Coupee Parish is currently closed to boat traffic.

The Pointe Coupee Parish Police Jury says the water has reached 18 feet and out of caution, officials don’t want people out on the river.
