BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Believe it or not, another year has come and gone. But ringing in 2019 in Baton Rouge will look a bit different than years past.
The organizers behind Red Stick Revelry announced two 20-minute laser shows that will transform the city hall plaza into a giant dance floor. The first laser show starts at 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. for the second one. Phat Hat will be playing during all the festivities from 9 p.m. to midnight.
Family-friendly events are planned throughout the day, and organizers expect about 20,000 people in downtown Baton Rouge. Three new hotels have opened since the event began six years ago. Trademark is hosting its own New Year's Eve bash as the Red Stick will drop just a block away.
The Red Stick will drop in Town Square to ring in 2019 with a fireworks show over the Mississippi River from 11:59 p.m. to midnight.
