1 killed in shooting on Washington Ave.; victim identified

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - One person was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon in Baton Rouge.
The Baton Rouge Police Department identified the victim as Vernon Covington, 42, of Baton Rouge.
Investigators reported it happened on Washington Avenue at Bahm Street around 4:30 p.m.
Detectives said Covington was shot after an argument with an unknown man. They added the victim died at the scene.
