BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Notorious home builder Matthew Morris won’t be able to restart his contracting business after the state fully revoked his contracting license Thursday.
In a unanimous decision, the Louisiana Licensing Board for Contractors found Morris lied on his licensing application by placing a checkmark in a box that indicated he had no past criminal convictions.
After a nearly five-hour hearing, the board found Morris had convictions for battery, disturbing the peace, and multiple DUIs before he filed the application. At that time in 2017, he was also being investigated for allegations of contractor fraud in Ascension and Livingston parishes.
Flanked by his two attorneys, Morris gave tearful testimony at Thursday’s hearing but maintained his innocence, saying he did not intend to deceive anyone on his application.
His general contractor’s license, which he used as owner of Complete Construction Contractors, had been merely suspended prior to Thursday’s hearing.
