FIRST ALERT FORECAST: Mild temps and Christmas showers

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The sun will come out again Sunday. We promise.

Clouds will clear overnight into the early Sunday morning start. Temperatures will be chilly for your Sunday morning plans with lows in the low to mid 40°s. We only warm into the mid 50°s by late morning. Into the afternoon, highs will reach the mid 60°s under mostly sunny skies.

A westward flow aloft will begin Sunday setting up a pretty nice couple of days of weather to start the new week.

Highs and lows will be within a few degrees of mid December normal to start the work and abbreviated school week for some. Expect lows in the low 40°s and highs in the mid 60°s under partly cloudy skies.

Our next storm system arrives Wednesday. This storm system will be weaker than the last two resulting in numerous rain showers Wednesday amounting to about 0.25″ of rain for most.

A few lingering light showers will be possible Thursday. A brief cool down occurs Friday before a subtle warming trend takes place into the weekend.

The final weekend before Christmas will stay mainly dry. Saturday will be dry while a few isolated showers will be possible Sunday.

A series of weak fronts try to reach the area in time for Christmas but for now don’t appear to make it. Son expect mild temperatures with a slim chance for a couple showers Christmas Eve Monday and Christmas Day Tuesday.
