BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Big Squeezy is adding CBD- and hemp-infused cold press juices to its menu, according to the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report.

The company announced the new line of beverages will be available for select locations in Louisiana next month. The Big Squeezy Owner Ash Shoukry is crediting this expansion to the passing of the 2018 farm bill, which legalized hemp plants. Congress passed the bill on Wednesday.

Shoukry said in a statement that hemp-infused juices will “dramatically increase the health benefits” for customers. He plans to expand his California hemp productions from 200 to 500 acres in order to meet the high demand of the product.

Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is found in hemp plants and marijuana known for relieving health issues, including pain, anxiety and depression. Unlike THC, CBD does not make users intoxicated.

More companies, such as Coca-Cola, are considering selling hemp-infused products since the CBD industry is expected to be worth $2 billion by 2022.

First FDA approved cannabis-based drug now available in all 50 states
