Much drier for Friday & the weekend!

Today's Forecast

Today's Forecast Image

The WAFB Storm Team has been talking about a declining trend in rain chances for this week. Well, it's turned out that Mother Nature has a different idea for Thursday and will deliver a "weather curveball" for the day.  A disturbance to our north will track west-to-east across the U.S. and enhance the potential for afternoon showers and thunderstorms in our viewing area on Thursday. So rather than a drier day, the First Alert Forecast now has rain chances at 50% to 60% for Thursday.  After that, however, we do expect a significant drop-off in rain coverage for Friday and the weekend. We won't say entirely dry but we are keeping rain chances at 20% or less for all three days. Of course, that means that the 90°s will be back along with Gulf humidity which will push heat index readings to near the century mark for all three afternoons.  Morning starts over the next seven days will tend to run in the low to mid 70°s, a little above the norm and a reflection that Gulf moisture will remain in place even if we get a respite from the frequent afternoon showers.  As for the tropics, the National Hurricane Center continues to indicate the "all clear" for the next 5 to 7 days across the Atlantic Basin.  -- Jay Grymes / WAFB First Alert Storm Team
