The Race for the Cure is the largest 5-k event in the world, where thousands of people come together to join in the fight against breast cancer. The last several years in Baton Rouge, we have seen thousands of runners and walkers participate, and hundreds of thousands of dollars have been raised. Whether you are a runner, walker, or just a bystander, this event is a great way to show your support for the fight against breast cancer.

With plenty of festivities centered around the walk and run, anyone can participate. Families, friends, co-workers all bond together for a single day for a single cause. This huge undertaking is accomplished by the generous effort of an army of volunteers. That means 100% of the monies raised will go toward the mission of this great event, which is to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment.

75% of the money raised in Baton Rouge by the Komen Race for the Cure will stay in the Baton Rouge area to support the cause. 25% goes to the national effort. Breast cancer strikes both women and men. But it takes many more of our mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters. Awareness is a great weapon against this disease. That's why we're telling you about this event. Please join us on LSU campus Saturday morning between 7:00 and 8:00. You can make a difference.
