Last night, the eyes of the nation were on Louisiana....not only because it was Mardi Gras, but because Governor Jindal gave the Republican response to President Barack Obama's address to Congress. For months now, Jindal has been called a rising star in the Republican Party. Last night, his star rose to new heights. For an up and coming politician, or any politician for that matter, what an opportunity...to speak to the nation uninterrupted for ten minutes.
Jindal has come under some criticism in recent months for spending so much time outside of Louisiana. But, as he has travelled to other states and made the talk show circuit, Jindal has consistently said he has the job he wants and these appearances are opportunities to promote Louisiana. Well last night, aside from the obvious political messages, the governor made good on his promise to promote Louisiana. He told the nation about steps his administration has taken to help business. He poked fun at our past reputation of corruption and touted his ethics reforms.
