Census office needs hundreds of workers to collect data

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Monday was the grand opening of the 2010 Census local office in Baton Rouge.

The Census provides data used for dissemination of $300 billion of federal funding every year, as well as the number of seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The grand opening ceremony was about more, though. It was about jobs. The office needs more than 1200 people to fill temporary positions.

Workers will go into every neighborhood to check addresses to make sure every household will get a Census questionnaire in 2010.

Workers can make $13.00 - $17.50 per hour. Call 866-861-2010 for information about jobs.
