Statment from Father John Carville

Following my press conference on Thursday, April 25, I discovered that I was not exact in one of my answers to questions from the media.

I said that each of the six priests removed from ministry in the past by our diocese had been found to have abused teen-agers. This is true.

However, in the first case involving a priest who had been removed from ministry in the 1980's, while the original complaint involved two teen-aged victims, the investigative work of the lay committee uncovered some other sexual abuse of minors under the age of 13 by this man. By the time Bishop Stanley Ott had already removed him from priestly ministry. The lay diocesan review committee offered help to the victims.
