The Baton Rouge mother charged with killing her twin sons was formally arraigned Thursday in Baton Rouge district court.
30-year-old Sherie Simms was indicted by an East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury last month.
Prosecutor Dana Cummings tells 9NEWS she will file an affidavit informing the court that she intends to seek the death penalty in the Simms case.
She allegedly strangled her two six-year-old sons with an electric cord in May.
Police found Simms on the bed inside her home next to the bodies of her boys.
