It's just a coincidence. The first named storm formed Wednesday, more than three weeks before the start of hurricane season. It was the same day as a statewide hurricane drill.

At the state Emergency Operations Center, all eyes were on an imaginary category three hurricane threatening Louisiana.

The imaginary storm involves 30 parishes with more than 100 people taking part in the mostly-tabletop drill, taking 76 hours of activity and compressing it.

GOHSEP director Jeff Smith says, "What we want to do is stress the system. See how new processes work, make sure and check the boxes on all the events, and we've done that."

The drill lasts until noon Thursday.
