New Orleans Universities Expect Surge in Incoming Freshmen

There's some good news when it comes to Katrina recovery. Universities in New Orleans expect a surge in incoming freshmen for the upcoming fall semester.

The institutions are seeing an increase in the number of students making financial commitments to attend.

Tulane reports a 56% increase from last year in the number of students to reserve spots. Expected enrollment numbers at Xavier are up by 30% and Loyola says it's received 18% more commitments.

Dillard shows the biggest increase percentage-wise, up by 244%, but that's only nine more students than last year.
