HOUSTON (AP) - Survivors from Wednesday's deadly fire in a Houston office building say they never heard an alarm. Letitia Tillman says the first indication of the blaze that she received was the sound of someone yelling "fire."
Dawn Herring, who works on the fourth floor of the six-story building, tells CNN that she heard screaming and then found the hallways and stairwells filled with smoke.
Firefighters used ladder trucks to help workers escape through broken windows. Herring says there was no way out, besides breaking the windows and waiting for help.
Authorities are still investigating the cause but believe the fire started in a medical supply firm on the fifth floor. Three people were found dead on that floor, and at least six others were injured.
