Question concerning a family member that is currently under treatment.

Note: The physicians from Pennington Cancer Center at Baton Rouge General cannot provide a diagnosis or medical advice in the Ask the Expert segment because they do not have thorough knowledge of relevant personal and family medical history, and a physical examination. They can respond to general questions about cancer and its treatment.

Question -  My mother is taking chemo treatments for stage 3 lung cancer.  She had a cough prior to beginning her treatment but since the treatments have started, the cough has become worse. What does this indicate?

Since your mother is already under a doctor's care, these questions should be addressed to her physician. The experts at Pennington Cancer Center can answer general questions about cancer and its treatment but cannot discuss diagnosis or specific treatment since that information is based on physical examination, diagnostic testing, history, etc.
