Myra Powell’s Oooey Gooey Holiday Dessert

Not all holiday recipes need to be complicated. This recipe is so easy in fact, it’s perfect to make with the kids while they are out of school. One warning however, it smells so divine when it comes out of the oven, your guests may never get to taste it.
Ingredients for Crust:
1 box Betty Crocker yellow cake mix
1 stick butter or margarine, softened
Mix ingredients together and spread on bottom and sides of a greased 9x12-inch pan.
Ingredients for filling:
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 large stick of Philadelphia-style cream cheese, softened
¾ cup pecan pieces
Preheat oven to 350º F. Combine all ingredients with an electric mixer until consistency is smooth. Pour on top of cake mixture. Sprinkle pecan pieces on top. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
