Sportsline Summer Camp: Loranger Wolves

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Sportsline Summer Camp has just seven more stops before jamborees, but the Loranger Wolves were at McKinley in Baton Rouge for a scrimmage Thursday night.

The Wolves are coming off another winning season that included a six-game win streak at the tail end of the season.

They have plenty of talent and speed returning to make another run at the 3A playoffs.

However, head coach Sam Messina will probably go through more growing pains this season, because most of the players on this Wolves team were just sophomores who played sparingly in 2017.

"We're setting that path how our young kids respond," said Messina. "We only have 10 seniors, but those seniors are good leaders. We have 24 juniors. How those juniors accept the role now being varsity players will determine how much we progress throughout the course of the season."

"I think we should be able to come back with that same effort, come back with that same grit we usually have," added senior running back Will Brasher. "Come back and get with it."
