Sportsline Summer Camp: Catholic Pointe Coupee Hornets - Part 1

NEW ROADS, LA (WAFB) - High school football had some jamborees Friday night and on Sportsline Summer Camp - Beauvais, Carriere, and Fuselier may sound like a Cajun law firm - but it's actually the three seniors Catholic Pointe Coupee lost after last season.

The Hornets have more than tripled that number of seniors on this year's team and after spending most of last week on campus for a boot camp, we're about to find out if Nick Carriere and those seniors can build on last year's 10-2 season that included a playoff win and then a loss to eventual state champion Lafayette Christian.

Beauvais and Fuselier were district MVPs and Nate Carriere won Sportsline Player of the Week, but head coach David Simoneaux has seven more all-district players coming back.

"These guys that I have this year that are seniors, I've got 11 of them," said Simoneaux. "I've had them since they were freshmen. So, this will be my first group that I've had all the way through and I love these guys' mentality. I love their work ethic. I think they have the right mindset to try and take this program to the next step."
