BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Tyler Brown consistently made throws Friday nights on Sportsline during his time at Donaldsonville, but when he got to Southern, he transitioned from throwing the ball to catching it when the Jags moved him to wideout.
Since arriving on campus, he has spent most of his time on special teams, but he's shown flashes of big play ability.
Now a redshirt junior, he is hoping to be more of a significant contributor this season.
"The transition from quarterback to receiver has been a long process and I've just been working," said Brown. "I played my role on special teams and when they call my name, I just have to be ready to ball. I hope to be a big deep threat to the team, something we've been missing the last few years. I think I'm going to contribute the best way that I could. I can stretch the field, I'm working on getting in and out of my breaks, those things are going to come but with the deep threat, I think I can be a big help to this team."
Cameras will be focused on Brown's performance during Southern's scrimmage Saturday afternoon.
