Police recover stolen 400 lb. bronze statue thanks to tip from public

Police: 400 lb. bronze statue stolen from downtown Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Police Department reported a tip called in to Crime Stoppers led to the recovery of a statue that was stolen.

Officers said it was found in a parking lot on Oklahoma Street at River Road.

The large, human-sized statue was stolen from downtown Baton Rouge.

The iron statue was on display on a bench along the Mississippi River levee prior to being taken.

Police said it weighs about 400 lbs.

They believe it was stolen sometime between mid-March and mid-April.
