DONALDSONVILLE, LA (WAFB) - Deputies said a tip from the public helped lead to the arrest of a man in connection with shots fired at a vehicle.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office reported Ronya Jones, 22, of Donaldsonville, was arrested Friday morning after an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers led deputies to his location.

Chief Deputy Bobby Webre with APSO said shots were fired at a vehicle Thursday morning at the Oak Villa Apartments in Donaldsonville and Jones was wanted for questioning.

He added no one was injured.

According to Webre, during the course of the investigation, it was learned Jones had gotten into an argument with someone he knows and fired shots as that person drove off.

Jones is charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, illegal use of weapons, illegal carrying of weapons, simple criminal damage to property, and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.

He will be booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
