Monday night's Sportsline Summer Camp visited with one of the area’s traditional powerhouses, the Riverside Rebels.
In 2016, the Rebels were state champions. Last season, Riverside reached the Division III semifinals.
Now, the Rebels are welcoming their third coach in as many seasons, as assistant Kevin Dizer has been promoted to the full-time spot, replacing the departed Chris Lachney, who is now the linebackers coach at Southeastern Louisiana University.
Dizer will be expected to win, but early on, there could be some struggles.
"We've got a long way to go," said Dizer. "Our numbers are down, in terms of our roster numbers opposed to the past. We're going to have to plan on kids playing both ways and playing on both sides of the ball. There's some things we're going to have to change. Losing the senior class we just lost with Jordan Loving, Jeremy Gipson, and those guys. Going to have to do things different, scheme wise. So, getting Gage Larvadain going at quarterback, finding his strengths and getting a feel for this team and see what our strengths are going to be."
