BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Two women were arrested Tuesday in connection with the death of their elderly grandmother, according to investigators.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Chasity Lewis, 36, and Carlnessa Butler, 22, are facing charges in the death of Barbara Lewis-Brown, 77. Authorities said all three of them lived in the same house on North Foster Drive.
Emergency Medical Services responded to a medical call at the home Sunday just before 10 a.m. Lewis-Brown was taken to the hospital where she later died.
Police said an autopsy showed Lewis-Brown died from Stage 4 bedsores. Malnourishment and dehydration also caused her death, police said.
Lewis and Butler were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of manslaughter and cruelty to the infirmed.
