BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Louisiana High School Athletic Association has issued bans against McKinley High School, citing "required paperwork and its adherence therein in disarray."
A compliance audit of the school's athletic department was recently held. Officials with LHSAA say there have been numerous documented violations prior to this audit. Officials say it became apparent after the eligibility issue with the school's girls' softball team at the 2017-18 State Tournament that a thorough records check was necessary to ensure all participants at the school were meeting eligibility requirements to play.
During the audit, it was reportedly found that McKinley's athletic department, in regards to paperwork, was in disarray. LHSAA officials say documents present were not complete and there were many missing documents, resulting in the ineligibility of some players and coaches. This will result in the forfeiture of games, contests, matches, past post-season honors, and future post-season honors.
Compliance officers with LHSAA say they spent the better part of four days reviewing documentation.
