A woman suspected of an insurance fraud incident that happened in Baton Rouge turned herself in to Louisiana State Police Monday.
A release from Crime Stoppers states that April 29, 2016, Maria Dawson Dunmars was involved in a car accident on Siegen Lane. At the time of the accident, she did not have insurance on her vehicle.
Crime Stoppers said she purchased a policy online two and a half hours after the crash.
The following day after the crash, Dunmars allegedly contacted the insurance company to make a claim. Crime Stoppers reported Dunmars lied about the time of the accident with the intent of defrauding and deceiving the insurance company. The Louisiana State Police has tried to find Dunmars, but with no success, according to Crime Stoppers.
On Monday, July 9, Crime Stoppers said Dunmars turned herself in after seeing herself on WAFB.
