BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A few dozen people got a first look Tuesday night at the details of a proposed rail linking Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
At this meeting, leaders rolled out renderings showcasing work on the master planning for the project. We're told after receiving a federal grant, a consultant was hired to help envision the first two rail stations.
"Helping us think about, helping us envision what those two stations might look like and how they might fit into the existing fabric of Baton Rouge, improve our amenities, our experiences, and neighborhoods, and ultimately, create a destination not only for the rail, but for our experience here in Baton Rouge," said Christopher Tyson, CEO of East Baton Rouge Redevelopment Authority.
Leaders say they haven't ruled out the idea of connecting the new rail with a much larger network of rails.
