BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Southern baseball legend and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Lou Brock turned 79 on Monday.
Brock played 19 years in the Majors after playing for the Jaguars, four with the Chicago Cubs and 16 with the St. Louis Cardinals. Brock was traded to the Cardinals after 52 games in the 1964 season.
He played in 2,616 games, batting .293 with 486 doubles, 141 triples, 149 home runs and 900 RBI.
The speedy center fielder ended his career with 3,023 hits, 1,610 runs and 938 stolen bases.
