Police have made an arrest in a shooting that left one man injured.
The shooting happened in the 3500 block of Victoria Drive on Saturday, June 16 around 6:30 p.m.
According to the report, the victim says he was standing at the location talking to a neighbor when a man drove up in a light-colored pickup truck and began shooting at him. The man, later identified as Jeffery, Washington, 40, fired four or five shots before driving away, police say.
The victim was hit in the right side of his torso and was transported in serious, but stable condition. Police say the injuries were non-life-threatening.
The victim was able to identify Washington in a six-person photographic lineup. A witness was also able to corroborate the victim's account of the shooting. Police note Washington has an extensive criminal history, including prior arrests for illegal possession of a firearm (1997), false communication of arson (2002), illegal possession of a stolen firearm (2005), first degree murder, armed robbery, and aggravated burglary (2006), attempted first degree murder (2011), aggravated battery (2013), and attempted first degree murder and armed robbery (2017). Washington was convicted of attempted simple burglary in 2011.
In this case, Washington faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
