BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - According to the Business Report, MJ's café will reopen at White Start Market in mid-July, becoming the final tenant at the gourmet food court.
The owner, Mary-Brennan Faucheux, says she's been wanting to reopen at the White Star location since she was unable to renew her lease on Jefferson Highway. MJ's café specializes in vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free soups, salads, and sandwiches.
"My goal was to find a warm and exciting venue that was close to my loyal Mid City clientele, and would also present an opportunity to share our mission of healthy eating to an expanded group of potential customers. White Star is exactly what I was looking for," Faucheux told the Business Report.
White Star Market on Government Street opened on May 11. Other eateries there include Gov't Street Taco, Jolie @ the Market, The Big Squeezy, Reve Coffee Roasters, Chow Yum Phat, D'atz Italian, Mouton bar, Fete Au Fete, and Counterspace BR.
Faucheux says she plans to serve vegan BLTs, falafel waffle salads, almond date tarts, and an assortment of avocado toast. The café will be open six days a week (closed on Mondays).
