BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Donovan Jackson, a Baton Rouge native and recent graduate of Southern University, has joined the WAFB news team as a reporter and videographer, the station announced Thursday, June 14.
During his senior year of college, Donovan worked as an intern for WAFB and later worked part-time at the station as a videographer.
"We are excited to bring an eager and talented young journalist like Donovan onto our team," said WAFB anchor and managing editor, Greg Meriwether. "In the short time he's been here, I've noticed the community has embraced his warm and inviting style. One of our main missions is to make sure your story gets told and finding the right people to do just that is not something we take lightly."
Donovan is a recipient of a Southern University Gala on the Bluff scholarship and a Genesis Energy scholarship. In 2014, he was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society.
"I am overjoyed to join such a diverse and professional group," Donovan said Thursday. "It's a dream come true to work with a news team that I've followed since childhood."
Donovan previously worked as a volunteer director for Volunteers in Public Schools and as a student teacher for the Big Buddy Program. He graduated from Southern University last month with a degree in mass communication.
