BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Take a quick drive down Burbank Drive and it's clear to see that part of Baton Rouge is booming. A new business has seemingly shot up every few days in the area recently.

"I'm just excited for it," said Michelle Dickson.

Last month, the city welcomed a new Chick-Fil-A on Burbank near Ben Hur Drive. A new Rotolo's and a Spanky's Daiquiri Bar have recently opened to the left of that location and a new shopping center, with plans for a Rouse's grocery store, is currently under construction to the right.

"It is great for the quick, cheap meal that you need if you don't want to go buy groceries or cook," said Dickson.

Dickson lives not far from the new restaurants in a new apartment and she says the area is becoming a college student's dream.

"Having something so close without having to deal with traffic and drain gas is amazing. I love that," she added.

Dickson says the area is much different than when she first arrived in Baton Rouge from Pennsylvania three years ago.

"When I first came here, all this area was just kind of flatlands and like nothing going on and I actually love how they're developing it," she said.

With new apartments sprouting up on just about every corner and more subdivisions taking root there, the only potential problem with the boom might be the extra brakes that drivers will have to use for the expected uptick in traffic in the area.

"It will definitely cause a little bit of issues, but if they keep things running smoothly, it will definitely clear out fast," said Dickson.

It seems like the growth in that part of town is a win-win, but Dickson just hopes she will not take a loss on her diet.

"I'm on a diet, so the Chick fil A ... obviously, cheated yesterday but definitely worth it. It's so good," she added.

NOTE: We reported Whataburger announced this week that the restaurant chain will bring a new location to Burbank Drive near Ben Hur Drive as well, the third in Baton Rouge. However, Whataburger contacted us Thursday to say that isn't the case.

Whataburger released the following statement:

We absolutely love hearing we have so many fans in Baton Rouge. Whataburger's always looking to provide something fresh for our customers, but a lot goes into deciding where and when a new restaurant will be built. We don't have any information to share at this time and we encourage fans to follow us on our social channels for any updates.
