BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - On Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will award $4 million in grants to the Baton Rouge Metro Airport.
The grant is part of $3.18 billion in Airport Improvement Program funding for projects at airports across the country. The grants will fund projects to improve runways, aprons, and terminals.

"If you want a strong transportation system, you have to invest in airport infrastructure. Airports are the backbone of aviation. These communities are going to reap greater safety, efficiency, and economic dividends for years to come," said Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao.
The grant for Baton Rouge will be used specifically to make improvements to the Runway Safety Area at Ryan Field.
