BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

An arrest has now been made after a teenager allegedly shot and killed a man during a drug deal.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Tykelian Lafleur, 19, is charged with murder in the shooting death of Kelvin Brown Jr., 32.

Lafleur was arrested Monday (June 25).

Sgt. Don Coppola Jr. with BRPD said the shooting happened on Winbourne Avenue near Howell Park on June 7 around 8:15 p.m.

He added Brown was found dead at the scene.

According to the probable cause report, Lafleur was also injured and later arrived at the hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators said Lafleur set up a meeting with Brown to conduct a drug deal. When Lafleur got there, he tried to rob Brown and shot him, officials added. It's believed Brown returned fire in self-defense.

Lafleur was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a charge of first-degree murder. Bond has not been set.
