LSU head coach Paul Mainieri will meet with the media Thursday afternoon to put the finishing touches on the 2018 season and look forward to next year.
The Tigers season ended at the Corvallis Regional after a 12-0 loss to No. 1-seeded Oregon State Sunday night.
“Whenever a season comes to an end, it’s always a very sad time,” coach Mainieri said after the game, “especially when you have to say goodbye to kids who have meant so much to our program. It’s just hard when the end of the season comes; we’ve been seeing each other every day and working together every day, and all of sudden, it comes to an end.
“Our kids gave it everything they had, I’m so proud of them. They left it all out on the field, we just came up a little bit short.”
LSU finished the season with a 39-27 record and 15-15 in the SEC.
The Tigers finished second in the SEC Tournament, falling to Ole Miss in the Championship game.
Seven Tigers were selected in the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft.
Pitcher Nick Bush was the highest Tiger selected in the draft. The Colorado Rockies picked Bush in the 8th round of the draft.
LSU could be setup for a special season in 2019 and another run at Omaha and the College World Series.
