BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Police are looking for a man they say stole thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry from a store recently and they added this may not be the first time he’s done it.

Greater Baton Rouge Crime Stoppers reported Everett Williams, 52, is wanted by the Baton Rouge Police Department.

He is 6 feet tall and weighs 253 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

According to investigators, Williams went to a jewelry store in Baton Rouge on May 21 to shop for a ring and while the worker was showing him two different rings, Williams grabbed both and ran out of the store.

Detectives said Williams then jumped into the passenger side of a tan Chevy SUV and the vehicle sped off. They added surveillance cameras in the parking lot recorded video of the SUV’s driver walking away from a mall security vehicle just before the “grab and dash” and later discovered the tires on the mall security vehicle had been slashed.

According to authorities, the store suffered a loss of $7,200.

Officials noted Williams is also wanted by the Kenner Police Department and Sarasota County (FL) Sheriff’s Office in similar cases.

He will be charged with felony theft in Baton Rouge when he is caught.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 344-7867, text CS225 plus your message to CRIMES (274637) or anonymously or go to www.crimestoppersbr.com.
