Sportsline Summer Camp is right around the corner and the 9Sports was in Zachary, Watson, Denham Springs, and Walker, where we caught up with LSU recruit TJ Finley, the Ponchatoula junior quarterback who just committed to the Tigers at the end of May.
"I've been reading defenses since I was 10 years old,” said Finley. “So, I know every disguise, every coverage there is in the book. I was 6 years old throwing 50-yard bombs."
The 6-foot-6 signal caller says LSU was on him early in the recruiting process, with Mickey Joseph and Steve Ensminger, although not necessarily when he was throwing those bombs as a 6-year-old.
"I just wanted to get that burden off my chest, to make sure I was focused on my team and make sure my team was able to get the same opportunity I was. And, I know it’s not going to stop just because I committed. It’s only going to get worse. So, I'm just praying to God that he helps me be able to focus more and make sure I'm pouring out my talents to my teammates," Finley explained about his early decision for 2020.
So even though you say, "I'm committed to the school" doesn't make them go away, right?
"Oh, no sir. It actually makes them come harder. You just entertain them. Make sure you’re always being respectful. Never tell a college no, because you don't want to burn your bridges. But I'm 100 percent committed to LSU. So, I'll just have to eventually tell them no," Finley added.
Alright, they got some big receivers over there, too?
"Oh, yes sir, yes sir. Jamarr Chase, Terrace Marshall - them guys helped me commit early," Finley replied.
Tiger Stadium, too?
"Yes, sir. Death Valley, that's where it's at," Finley answered.
