BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge woman is facing charges after her two children were reportedly found near a canal, and she was then found in her home passed out.
Officials with the Baton Rouge Police Department say on June 4 around 10:30 p.m., they were called out to South Boulevard about children running around in the street. When officers arrived at the home, they reportedly found the mother, Sebryna Keowa, 29, passed out in the living room of the home with no signs of the children, who were located shortly thereafter near a canal.
When the children were located, officers noted they had no shoes on, and youngest had on only a diaper and had a large sore on her buttock.
Keowa reportedly told officers she'd had one drink. Officers noted in the report that a cigarette box containing a crack pipe was found near where Keowa was lying. Another crack pipe was also reportedly found in a purse on a nearby shelf.
The report also states the home was "not livable" and "presented danger" to the children living there.
Keowa was arrested and charged with child desertion and possession of drug paraphernalia.
