EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Tuesday was a very special day for some kids and their parents. For the 10th time, women in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison got to spend a day with their kids as part of the One Day with Kids event.
In order to see their children, they had to go through a series of parenting classes, but they say it was worth it, even if it means reuniting their families for only a day.
"It's a blessing. It's very exciting to see my babies. I haven't seen them in so long. But in order to see them, we have to take a 12 hour class, how to be optimistic, how to bounce back from what I'm going through and look at the good out of everything," said Laceria Poche, an inmate.
The women say the classes have also helped prepare them to look for jobs in the future.
