A paramedic who was called the scene shared photos and a video of the bear on social media, receiving nearly 1,000 shares in 3 hours.
Authorities believe it wandered into a tree and subsequently got stuck inside the fenced in backyard. First responders attempted unsuccessfully to trap the bear Friday morning. A biologist with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries finally tranquilized the bear around 1:30 p.m.
LDWF biologists will relocate the bear to the Dewey Wills Wildlife Management Area. Authorities say the bear was not harmed and estimate he weighs about 400 lbs.
