BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge's honored their finest Wednesday night as BRPD held its annual award ceremony.
The event honors officers and other employees for their work in the community over the past year. BRPD leaders say all the men honored Wednesday night went above and beyond in help the city, even as the role of police officers continues to change.
"We go from traffic investigation to social worker to an EMT, you know, we change hats. Every call is a different call and this is a way to repay that thanks for all the work they're doing," said Deputy Chief Robert McGarner Jr.
Mayor Sharon Weston Broome was one of the speakers at this year's event.
