Holden Man dies after crashing ATV in Livingston Parish

LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) - A Holden man died overnight on Sunday after crashing his ATV in Livingston Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

At about 12 am, Louisiana State Police Troop A started investigating the crash on LA 42 west of LA 43. Brandon Swindle, 28, of Holden died in the crash, police said.

Police reported that the crash happened as Swindle was driving the ATV in the travel lanes of LA 42.

Swindle had lost control of the ATV and was ejected onto the roadway, authorities said. His body was later struck by a 2016 Honda Accord, driven by Gary Fontenot, 58, of Holden.

Livingston Parish Coroner's Office said Swindle had died at the crash site.

Fontenot was not injured during the crash.

State authorities said they believe Swindle might have been impaired, but a toxicology sample will be taken from both drivers for analysis.
