ZACHARY, LA (WAFB) - There was an upbeat celebration in Zachary on Friday.
Leaders cut the ribbon on the new EMS location for the northern part of East Baton Rouge Parish. The new facility will allow emergency responders to have a place of their own outside the Zachary fire house and will really come in handy during hurricane season.
"It feels good to finally have it," said Chad Guillot, director of East Baton Rouge EMS. "The groundbreaking seemed like it was just yesterday. It did come up fairly quickly, so we're really pleased with that and glad we can be part of the Zachary community and have something here permanent for the department."
The new EMS building was made possible thanks to taxpayer funding and took less than a year to build, according to officials.
