Baton Rouge General was the first to open a burn program in Louisiana in the 1970s and 14th in the US. Since then, the Regional Burn Center has saved thousands of lives from more than 150 zip codes and hundreds of offshore platforms stationed in coastal waters.

BRG has the only verified burn center between Florida and Texas and is one of only 68 in the U.S. that is held to specific standards by the American Burn Association through its verified status.

BRG's Regional Burn Center plays an integral role in supporting other Gulf Coast states when the need arises.
